Kiplinger.com recently ranked the top 10 tax-friendly states for retirees based largely on each locale’s treatment of Social Security benefits, pensions and other types of typical retirement income.
Along with nine other U.S. states, Hawaii ranked among the top ten because it exempts Social Security benefits as well as military, federal, state and local pensions, and some private pensions from state income taxes.
